More 47N- 2 weekends pt 1

Postby beaky » Sun Sep 21, 2008 9:58 pm

Actually, only the first shot is from last Sunday... the only keeper, really, because of crud on the lens (amazing how I can gunk up even a lens that covers itself when I turn off the camera, LOL).

When it's busy, we often have arriving traffic overfly us as we stage on the overrun area... I think we were waiting for the Citabria to start here. ;D

Club member Andrew is a partner in this nice Kitten... he took it up several times today.

The club's 1-26 saw some action today...

And the 2-33 was of course quite busy. Greg made another solo today, and I got two "pattern hops" in, doing reasonably well despite being a bit tired.

Looks like you had some of our nice weather. That Kitten is a neat little thing. Can't say I've seen one before.

Have to agree with all of the above Sean...that "Kitten" isn't to bad at all for a homebuilt bugsmasher. :)

I wonder what the operational cost is per hour and what the fuel burn would be?

It might be even lighter than the "Breezy" and cheaper to operate per hour.

It certainly is lighter than the Breezy, which is no ultralight, being made of a super cub wing and tail and a pile of chromoly steel tubing with an O-320 bolted to it. Typical GTW for a Breezy is about 1500 lbs, whereas the Kitten weighs in at about 500 lbs. full-up.

Not sure what kind of burn Andrew sees; it would depend on the powerplant (I think his might be a modded VW engine), but no doubt it's very low. It's not a fast plane, but it looks like fun.

Here's a good Kitten website:
