Gent by night

Postby Omag 2.0 » Sat Jul 19, 2008 7:19 am

Finally had the time to go out in my native town, Ghent ( or Gent in Dutch). Together with my nephew I made a walk trough the historical citycenter. Sadly I forgot they were preparing for the yealy festival ( Gentse feesten) in the center, so there were stages, public toilets, food and drinkstalls everywhere, but still no sign of the 1,25 million people expected in the next ten days...

Anyway, here are some results of this first time experiment, all handheld with my 24-70 lens.

Sint Jacobs, one of the three towers of Ghent. This Belfort beeing one of the prettiest.

Gravensteen (Counts castle), a feodal castle dating back to 1000 BC.

One of the cosy streets...

The graslei, a string of medieval merchant buildings, next to a canal. Now the hearth of the festival with a stage build across the canal. One of my all time favorite spots in Ghent.

I hope you liked this little scenic tour. I'm heading back there in some weeks, to do some serious photography.  ;)
