This is Heathcliff, one of my two cats which we have had for 15 years. He's been unwell the last couple of months, and on Monday night disappeared completely. I'm still hoping that he'll come trotting across the lawn at some point, but I think he's probably gone for good.

Really sorry to hear this, I know how you feel, losing a pet you've had for so long is like losing a family member.

Sorry to hear dude, but they usually come back, just give him a little time, one of my old house cats disappeared for three weeks before she came meowing at our door.  Just gotta let them do their thing.  (reckon he's out getting a lil action haha)  They know where the good life is, but sometimes they need to go follow their instincts a little bit here and there.  You'll see him again  ;)

15 years is a respectable age for cats. Seems he lead a good life. I'm hoping with you he'll be back the next few weeks, but sick cats have a tendency to go into hiding.

My male cat suffered from a urinal congestion a while back, he was getting worse by the moment. We kept him inside for observation, but at one moment he disappeared. We searched the whole house for quit a while, before we found him hidden into the backside of a furnace we keep in the garage. Brought him to the vet in a hurry, and he was saved in the nick of time. This was the second time we saved him. The other time he suffered from jaundice. Getting him trough twice in his 4 years of existance, gave us a good feeling and he's doing good now.

If your Heathcliff has gone forever, just think of the fact that he has had a good, loving home for all these years. Many cats aren't so lucky. Just keep this lovely creature in mind.

..but on the other hand there's every likelihood that he's sat on some old dear's lap a few doors down being fed fresh tuna and boiled chicken  ;)

I hope it's the latter.
