I wonder why the long body?...flying stability?

Nice. I love dragonflies... Someday I might even get a shot of one in flight (although I doubt it!)  :)

I guess it makes them more streamlined, and counterbalances the large head, wings and landing gear.

Also, dragonflies do something very interesting with their abdomens when mating; they feed, fight, and, uh, do other stuff on the wing. I can sit and watch them do their thing for hours- amazing fliers!!

Nice collection of Bluets. ;) I just caught a dragon fly while i was in the pool. Adding to my collection. :D

I bet the poor buggar has got a pin through it now, and stuck on a display board...

...what a way to end your life...pinned to a board!... :'(...!

Good luck, very fast, and they're a bit hyperactive too. They'll land somewhere for a second and then they go zipping off. ;D

(Must have heard a1 will stick a pin in them :P)

I often find dead ones- they seem to die fully extended, which makes them quite decorative... but I'd never kill one just to look at it.  :(

They are Nature's perfect little aerial hunters, and they eat things that bother us!
