Couple from silverstone my view

Postby Craig. » Wed Jun 25, 2008 5:23 pm

As said, it was a great day out. Absolutly no car on the planet comes close to these machines for pure excitement and performance.

Look at those brake discs glowing on the Red Bull car... great shot!
My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

believe me the mclaren thing wasn't intentional. I love the look of it's paint scheme. Unfortunatly it's that scheme which makes it very difficult to get a decent shot of. IF the suns out, the thing is just washed out because it shines so much, and if its cloudy you just get a dark dull and flat look. I'll put my best effort up shortly.

If it's really sunny and you're shooting something bright try underexposing by a couple of thirds, it makes a world of difference ;)

Lovely shots....I must do some race photography at some point....maybe I'll get over to Castle Combe in the next few weeks :)

A bit like trying to get a good shot of a polished aluminum War Bird.

believe me mic I did. the clouds were just not our friend yesterday, they were stupidly gappy and those gaps picked the exact time certain cars came through giving no time to fiddle. F1 is just a case of set and hope a lot like the loop really. Of course they come back round more often. :D

Nice, I'd love to shoot a race someday. What lense did you use btw? I can't read the exifs of the shots, hence the question.  ;)

Sorry Craig but for sheer excitement the Group B rally cars of the 80's are king!

we'll have to just disagree on that Mark :) ;)

Kris, I use a 70-300mm macro sigma. Not that good at 300mm as evidenced by the torro rosso with glowing brakes, but it does okay for now.
Unfortunatly its coming to the end of its life, the autofocus is becoming increasingly stiff and slow, it's also struggling to fully focus one a subject, and I missed a lot of shots at silverstone because of it.
