Sunny Lulsgate pt1

Postby Mictheslik » Thu Jun 26, 2008 3:55 am

A few of the regulars.....something to look at in between the DC3 flights :D

CO757......really annoying as I hardly ever catch this bird as it leaves quite early (was about 2 hours late yesterday  :P), but I saw her taxying out when I was on the wrong side of the runway, so after a quick dash down a hill, along the end of the runway then back up a hill again, she took off just before I could get a decent view of the rotation  >:(

KLM F100....makes a change from the F70 we normally get :)

Lovely Dassault Falcon......my first Trijet at Bristol  :P

Oh dear.....

KLM departs again

As does a familiar A319

100-400mm f4.5-5.6 L IS USM

I'm loving it at the moment.....it goes a little soft at 400mm, but at the lower end it's incredibly sharp  8-)

It's a nuissance, those brilliant lenses always have a setback. I wouldn't mind if it was a bit soft at 100 mm, but you buy a tele for it's reach.

I've got the same thing with my 2.8 lenses. They go a bit softer wide open at the long end.

But in the end, that's the faith of every lens...

Great shots BTW, love the Aurigny bird. Don't they land trilanders on a beach-strip in Scotland somewhere?

By a little soft, I mean it's still 100x better than the 75-300 I used to use, and on a sunny day it still performs very well (nothing that a little USM can't fix  ;D)

I've also discovered taking off the UV filter does have an affect on the sharpness....so now it has UV on when in transit for protection, but UV off as soon as I start shooting (with lens hood to protect front element :) )

1. I don't have a car ;)

2. When I get a lift we never park in front of crash gates.....that's just stupid, let alone illegal....

Most of these were taken from Winters Lane anyway, which has loads of parking. I only went round onto the A38 for 20 minutes.....:)
