My latest venture...

...into plastic modelling.  Been really bored lately, so I've gotten back into modelling.

I hadn't really done it much to begin with, but I figured now's a good a time as any to get started.

So here is a showcase of the 4 models I've built in the past couple of weeks.

T-6 I built today:

I built the 737 last week, the F-14 last week, and the F-15 today.  All are 1/144th scale, so it's a good comparison.

This is a closeup of the F-14.  First model I've actually painted in a long time.  Had a modelling stint a while back but I was too lazy to paint, I just built.

Finally, the F-15 closeup.  I think I did a good job painting this one:

I know they are all missing decals, but that's because I have too much difficulty with them!  Never works out.  I may try to add them to the F-15 and to the F-16 I'm gonna build next.

Comments welcome!

You obviously don't own an Xbox  ;D

Nice work, keep at it!!!

;)  Tip for those decals, keep your fingers wet while you apply them and use a toothpick to guide them into place while they are still wet, and be patient with it, don't force it into place...

Try spray painting them, gives a much better, and more uniform look. You can use masking tape and make perfect lines and such. I used to make so many model planes when I was a kid.... And I do still build some models, but are usually cars. Will have to post a few of my favorites.
My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

hahaha i remember those! I used to build them well, then have real problems with the paint and ended up burning them in mock crashes in my garden... but it was the painting that put me off the whole hobby. I guess its just practice... good luck

I can't lie... it's probably not the best you could do.

The secret to brush-painting these:
Two good brushes- one fine, one for larger areas- and do it in at least two thin coats.

As for the decals: wet them just long enough so they'll come off the paper, then after you lay them on, wet them a little so you can move them that last little bit. If they're sopping wet when you try to get them off the paper and put them on, they get all messed up and usually rip. Getting them good and wet after they go on helps work them onto the surface better, into corners, etc.

I'd show you all my cool model planes (some of which came out very nicely) but they're all in "the dustbin of history". ;D

Thanks for the comments guys.

I know the paint could be better, but I do it for fun, so I don't really care to take the time to make it perfect.  If I ever get a really nice model (as in not a 5 dollar one) I'll paint it pretty.  Got my eyes on a 1/144th super detailed AN-124 ;)
