Shawbury Vampire

One of the things I was really looking forward to today was the Vampire. It didn't disappoint, and looked superb in it's new colour scheme

2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Seems like that Vampire got around a bit yesterday. It also made a brief appearance at Old Warden. I won't embarrass myself by posting pics.

That's why I chose to go to Shawbury, I'm fed up of backlit silhouettes of classic jets at 1500ft. At least I got to see it up close and get some decent pics

That's why I chose to go to Shawbury, I'm fed up of backlit silhouettes of classic jets at 1500ft. At least I got to see it up close and get some decent pics

Old Warden is not like most other airfields in that respect. The cloud base was unfortunately very low when the Vampire showed up. If he'd been at 1,500 feet we wouldn't have seen him at all. He did 3 quick passes before buggering off. Can't say I blamed him. It would have been so different with a little sunshine.

They were posting on UKAR today, so presumably it's nothing too traumatic  ;)

Is she a T.11? (obviously a T, but what mark?)

It is indeed a T.11, they think it is the only airworthy example in the world
