A Picnic and the Mummers

Over the Memorial Day weekend I had a few picnics to go to.

Being part Polish, I immediately thought up a Polish riddle:
Q: What's a Polish string band?
A: Forty horns and a banjo!



That kid in the 2nd-to-last shot doesn't seem to be digging it, but I"ll bet they sounded great.

Mummers are familiar in this part of the world too. Mummers Plays are still performed at Christmas time, not that I've ever seen one. http://www2.prestel.co.uk/aspen/sussex/mumming.html

Yeah, the idea is to make the cotumes as extravagant as possible.

The music is great!!  This was only part of the band.

I thought it's origins came from the old country.
