Stampe Fly-in - Antwerp - Part II - Harvards

Yep, no good air-event without these...











The red one ( Seaview Princess) belongs to the Stampe & Vertongen museum and formerly belonged to the South African Airforce. In 2006 it was partialy repainted and used in the movie "Waiting for Dublin".

B-182 is part of the Aviodrome collection ( Lelystad - The Netherlands). There's a good cooperation between this museum and Aviodrome, so we see lots of Dutch warbirds at this event.

The weather was great, but it showed that I still have to learn a lot. I struggled with the exposure of my shots. Blue sky turning grey or overexposed. Seems I'll have to tweek the exposure value next time.

A member of another forum says he overexposes 1/3 to 2/3 EV when the planes are in the sky. I'm still a bit uncertain about the whole exposure-changing thing. I'll have to do some propper reading.

I tend to play around a bit....if the skies are dark I tend to go for 2/3 (most of my Abingdon shots for example). However if the weather is really sunny it sometimes doesn't hurt to go down -2/3. The other option is to meter to something on the ground then take the picture, hopefully fooling the camera into exposing the shot as it would have with the ground in the background rather than the sky. The fact of the matter is, if you're shooting a dark subject against a dark background it's very hard to make it work
