Back to basics

Postby Hagar » Thu Apr 17, 2008 4:00 pm

This was the scene at Old Warden yesterday evening after the powered aeroplanes had been put to bed.
If successful this would be the first flight of the Schneider SG-38 glider since its restoration.

Hooray! Contrary to popular belief that's something I've never seen before.

I put this in to make up the weight. I've heard of heritage formations but this is ridiculous. ;)

Just to add the Magister had considerable overtake on the Avro Tripe. You'll notice a chap leaning out the back with a camera too. Should be in a WHSmith's near you soon. ;)

And plus it just wouldn't be the same if it wasn't flying in original colours, taking the colours away from a plane is like taking FS9 and screenies away from all of us. Lol.

Spitfires these days tend to be a little more friendly and relaxed about aircraft with such markings.......and don't carry any arms to do anything about it  ;D

The RAF too don't seem quite as concerned these days about aircraft bearing swastikas  ;)

I really like the shot taken at the moment the line is released... 8-)
the bonus shot is excellent, too.

Wow, very interesting!

But this is only possible in Britain; over here, the guy would have been arrested immediately and put into jail for putting the swastika on the tail. Although I think they put it there for reasons of authenticity.

We had this discussion a short time back. I think, if I remember correctly, German law allows the use for historical purposes and teaching. If you go to the Gatow aircraft museum, all the aircraft of the time have swastikas on them. I think that most people assume a blanket ban to be safe. I have just been to the international model show in Dortmund and all swastikas where covered up from the smallest 1:144 to 1:4 scale aircraft. At the end of the day, a 60 year old glider or a 1:24 scale ME 109 is hardly going to whip the far right into a goose stepping frenzy.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.
