I'm Hit!!!  Call for Medevac!!!

Postby BigTruck » Sun Apr 06, 2008 6:00 am

Hey guys!  Been out in the field for the past two months getting some training, one of our first exercises we did was a medevac drill and I got to be the victim!  Free ride on a super huey?  I'm there!!

Chopper landed and the medics get ready to treat me for a gun blast to the chest (sucking chest wound)

They gave me a headset so I could talk to them while we flew our circle around the base, turns out the pilot was a Marine Huey pilot in the Veitnam war, needless to say the ride was rather exciting, he still had all his old moves!!!  (and the mustache is just for the field, I dont wear a mustache normally lol)

More pics from the deployment to come, got machine guns, grr-nades, rifle shoots, grr-nade launchers, mortars, and other stuff to share!

Interesting what people will do just to go for a ride, interesting landscape, I know your in Hawaii, but whats with the rocky terrain, looks like you should have a broken ankle not a gun shot to the chest. I would hate to walk on those all day. Mark

Oh, come on! You call that acting?? Didn't you ever play "Army" when you were a kid? You're supposed to writhe and moan... :D

That must have been fun, although I wouldn't fancy being trussed up like that, especially for a helicopter ride.
But as you say, it's worth it for a ride in that excellent aircraft. ;)

Yes I was on the "big island" of Hawaii, right in between the two volcanoes Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, so there is plenty of fresh lava fields everywhere, the whole landscape looks like we're on the moon with all the craters and rocks, it's a rather depressing place haha, doesnt look like typical Hawaii...

Thanks for the replies!  It was a good ride, short but sweet, felt kinda wierd being strapped completely down, all I could move was my neck, but hey it was worth it!

I had to crane my neck just a bit but yeah I was right next to a window so I got to see everything as we were flying
