Do they use the hawk for bird control?

Some airports do, but I don't think PHL does. If I'm not mistaken, they nest nearby.

You are correct, James!!   There are a few Hawks nesting in the area and also a couple Bald Eagles.  Then we have the the dozen or so Turkey Vultures that ride the thermals around the airport.

That's really neat. PHL looks like an awesome place to spot!

It's definitely a lot nicer that any of the NYC-area airports. Police intervention-wise.

Not so much in the way of international traffic. ;)

I hear ya.

I spot at CYHM.

It's really hard to spot there because only 3 Westjet, maybe a few jazz, and a CargoJet will depart and arrive within a one hour time span. So we actually have to look up flight plans before we go. There is no problem with spotting here though. In-fact, we park right beside the staff entrance gate, and the security officers nod as the drive by.

Sometimes I hit up CYYZ, security can be a little harsh there, but it's totally worth it. Something flying over your head every 2 minutes or so  ;D
