Newark-Detroit

Postby beaky » Sun Feb 17, 2008 3:49 pm

Back to Chicago for work... I was all the way in the back for the 2nd leg, so no piccies from that one. Really wanted to get some flight deck shots (NW DC-9s; all zinc chromate and lotsa steam gauges and switches), but I was a bit rushed.
Anyhoo, here's some little snapshots...

On the ground at KEWR...

Descending towards Detroit...

Passed over this field; anybody know it?

We actually entered a pretty standard pattern at KDTW...

Gorgeous shots Sean! Chicago sure looks chillly!

I saw one of those gorgeous Kalitta 747's take off from Brussels today, they look wonderful!

And Sean... please level the shots...

Beats me... there were a few of them there; I thought it was a new Swissair livery at first. :D

It is. They're called Privatair. They fly 319s to EWR regularly, and the 737 on occasion.

Aha! So I guessed right- we were over Canada! :D
Pretty easy nav on that one: NW from Newark, big water to the left... must be Canada to the right. ::) ;D

Nice shots.  ;)

Glad you had a good flight.

It was OK; massive winds kept us down lower than they'd planned, but it was pretty smooth. And I like the old DC-9... what a workhorse!
Wasn't too thrilled on the second leg, though... not so much because my head was inches away from that big turbine, but because I had no window. >:(

My dad is flying from MSY-DTW-EWR tomorrow on an NW DC-9. I'm jealous. :D

Number 4 looks like ExpressJet.  How long did you have to wait for a takeoff slot at EWR?
