Helo action - 1/25/08

Postby flyboy 28 » Fri Jan 25, 2008 5:49 pm

So this afternoon, I headed over to JFK to do some spotting with a friend of mine, and Colin Parker, a well known and respected aviation photographer. I get out there, only to realize I forgot my CF card. I felt like slamming my camera on the pavement in anger, but quickly decided against that. So to reconcile, I thought I'd head out to Sky Manor to see what was going on. There was a lot of chatter on the scanner as I was heading there, but just as I pulled in, the last C421 pulled out on two-five. I stuck around for a while in the biting cold to watch an R22 with a student practice taxiing and pattern work.

I'm heading out to EWR on Sunday, so hopefully I'll be able to catch some heavies before being shooed away by the fuzz.

That last one looks like a shot out of a movie, very nice!

Cool. Especially the second and the last!

These R22 seem to be so common these days, they turn up everywhere.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Nuts! I thought you were still convalescing or whatever, so I didn't call you to shoot some pics of my lesson today at N12.  :(

But then you wouldn't have gotten these... ;D

I'll be working tomorrow, or I'd join you for some KEWR spotting.

The north free parking area  right off 78 is a good place if they're using 22L/R (but if you sit there too long somebody might get suspicious. ::) ), or north still up near Delancy Street, if you like belly shots.  Nobody will bother you there. That's wherer I get my own modest approach shots.;D

Not really any places to park and get a good angle, especially on the south end.
Good luck!

LOL Nope. I was only in the hospital for three days, and I'm (somewhat) as healthy as a horse.

Is that the one off Olympia? I believe I was there very shortly once before getting the boot by PAPD.
