Manchester day 2.....less cold, more rain.....Pt1

Postby Mictheslik » Sun Jan 20, 2008 2:05 pm

I was supposed to be meeting up with Nemo this morning, but unfortunately he couldn't come. he said things had come up, but I just think he was a little scared of the weather :D

rained all morning, but that did mean the spray produced some nice shots, as did the condensation and vortices :)....unfortunately it was also very dark, meaning loads of the shots came out blurry...heres a few of the nicer ones...starting off with some heavies

Virgin 744 pushing back the surface water.

A 747F in need of a clean....Jet8 cargo...very lightly loaded.....look at the the rotation point compared to the virgin 744....acted like a dash 8 :D...well maybe not

PIA 777....love the condensation in those HUGE engines!

Man! Horrible conditions, but what nice effects do they create! I love the waterspray and the condensation, especially in the 777 engines!  :o

A VERY decent series considering the circumstances!

But Mic? Blurred shots with an IS lens?  :-?  ::)  ;D

Just kidding!  :)

Notice how half the aircraft is in focus and the other half blurred.... a result of panning and the fact I went down to f5.6 to get a semi decent shutter speed ;)

Just playing around.....impossible to get perfect pics in that kind of weather :D

Awesome set!  Really like #2.  Nice job considering the less than desirable weather.  8-)

They are quite impressive. Not a phenomenon you see too often either. Nice one. :)

I use 5.6 wherever I go (indeed, I have for most of my years), can't say I've spotted that happening (to that extent) ;)
If anthing, it's down to the fact you were using such a slow shutter speed that the movement of the nose was actually recorded.

Call it a placebo, but I've noticed that shots are noticeably sharper at around f8 with that lens.....but I agree the blurring is caused by the low shutter speeds....was getting around 1/150 and below ;)

I don't think it's a placebo. You read it everywhere... all zooms get sharper by stopping them down a bit. But go to far and the effect is lost.
