I double checked and the plane is a United Consultants Twin Bee...
Just about a butt ugly thing, ain't it? ;D
The UC Twin Bee is just a Republic SeaBee with a pair of IO-360s added and a lengthened fuselage.
The UC-1 looks a bit odd compared to the original RC-3, but I still think the basic design is very cool-looking, and most Sea/Twin Bee owners love them madly, quirks and all.
I think the UC-1 would be a good platform for a pilot looking to get that multi rating and seaplane rating... if they could handle that beast, they'd be set to fly 'most any twin or amphib (or twin amphib).
Check out this page... the author/owner lists a series of significant squawks... but the last sentence sums up his feelings.
