A320 C Check

Taken at the same time as the pictures of the Dove, an A320 was on C check with a main gear change. As pointed out in the Dove pictures, the hanger is lit with sodium lights so the pictures suffered. As usual, taken with my cell/mobile/handy.

2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

For my sins, I am a mechanic on 737-800's and the Air Bus 19/20 family (not though, for the company in the pictures in a manner of speaking depending on your view if you read the news :-/).

The internal shot seems to show two large air filters, what are they for then?

What you are looking at are the mixing chambers for the cabin conditioning. It is where the left and right packs and the recycled air is mixed together before it is pumped into the cabin. There are no filters in the air conditioning system of the Air Bus or in general of any aircraft. Due to the way the air is dried they are not necessary. Saying that I am sure someone via the internet could prove me wrong. The 737 has zonal drying filters, but that is in the cargo compartments to stop spurious smoke warnings.

You got any idea of anywhere that'll take on someone (me ;)) that has all category A licence theory modules and needs a year's experience so that I can get the nice CAA people to give me a cat. A licence? :-/

Probably one of the most random questions I've ever asked...but no harm in me trying.

If all you need is the years experience, then it is just a case of applying for jobs and making that point clear. They may take you on with just the modules under your belt with a limited contract. It then lets them see you and you see them. Shine and it may turn into more that that. Some companies like the idea of shaping new mechanics themselves.They then get what they want in a mechanic. More than that I cannot say. I have never worked under CAA. I left the RAF many moons ago and moved to Germany. I work under the LBA. Now if you where here, then it would be a different matter. More than that I cannot say.
