The Star of India

I almost forgot about the rest of my San Diego Maritime Museum pics... ;D

I'm glad I stopped by; you get access to half a dozen interesting historic vessels for only $12.

The Star of India was built in 1863 on the Isle of Man, and still sails today, after many years of hard work on all the world's oceans. She was first named the Euterpe, hence the name on her bell.

The saloon is very nice if not luxurious; the skylight is a thing of beauty.

A peek at the chart room:

There are two lower decks, now devoted to display areas. There's a fantastic collection of models, photos, paintings and artifacts down there.

The boatswain's "office"... a place for everything... ;D

Do they still show movies on her every night?  When I was there they would usually show "Jaws" on her deck using a sail as a screen...

Are you sure you're working & not on a long holiday? Nice work if you can get it. :P

I know how hard you work & glad to see you're making the most of your leisure time. Thanks for taking us along. ;)
