Red Bull San Diego- part 3- military flybys

Postby beaky » Sun Sep 23, 2007 6:47 pm

I was not in quite the right spot, especially when the MiG-17, B-24, P-51s and P-40 flew by, but I got some decent snaps of some of the others... hope they're not too crappy.

USN EC-2 and C-2a strut their stuff in formation:

Always nice to see a Hellcat in the air!

Intruder and Super Hornet demonstrate  "buddy" refueling...

A solo pass by the Hornet.

Another rarity: a flying "Sandy". What a beast!

If this Bearcat had only dropped a wing for me... sigh...

A flock of Navy birds: F-16, F-18, and two F-5 "adversaries".

Next: It's nice to be a winner!

Bah, that's not a proper tanker! ;) ;D

I've recently come across a very amusing photo of a very large tanker aircraft refuelling buddy-buddy from an A-4! ;D

Only one Navy bird in the last one, the Hornet. -16 are USAF and I don't think the Navy ever flew the F-5.

Nice shots though.

The Navy has used the F-5 and F-16 for training, including to simulate likely adversaries. Think "Top Gun". ;)
