Good overview of RAF Syerston... Well... whats left of it anyways...  ::)

Mmm, some penny pinching criminal bulldozed the whole technical site. A bit like the very historic Officers Mess at Church Fenton, which was reputedly bulldozed when some non history appreciating purse string holder found out it was scheduled to become listed...

Excellent shots Luke.
I watched some Air cadets glider training at Kenley Aerodrome the other week... I was amazed at the rate of climb on those things when the winch starts, and the noise when they were landing was, well, tumbleweed like.. Whooosh

The old officers mess at RAF Montford Bridge became a small local school after the war, the school has moved out now and the builders have moved in......I dread what they're going to do now  :(

The daft thing with Church Fenton is the station is still used!

Loverly... I'm still thinking I may try my hand at soaring while I'm out here on the Left Coast, but I'll more likely spend the money on some Champ time, an get into soaring later.

Mmm, I simply adore those high-visibility bands painted on the wings and fuselage of that glider! And great shots too!  :)

Very cool!  I glided once, but then I was able to get the engine restarted, left the electric fuel pump on, and hauled a__ back to the airport.   :o
