airventure 07-classics, etc- part 1

Postby beaky » Tue Sep 04, 2007 9:40 pm

Held carefully in reserve for a quiet moment, a mere sampling of my ogling at Airventure 2007. Be warned: for me, pictures of aircraft like this are like pornography. If I had a beautiful nude female model and a beautiful classic flying machine and could only take one picture, I would of course pose her with the airplane.
Indulgent, that's what it is... ;D

Some are actually nice photos, so even jet lovers and other strange people might like them. ;D

I've taken a ride in the sumptuous cabin of this old airliner once and hoped to get some time in the right seat, but alas, during the week of the show they only offer that to "trained observers". I was very envious of this "trained observer", sitting there with his elbow in the breeze...  >:(

Image

Speaking of airliners, imagine a time when dinosaurs flowed into fuel tanks at an unheard-of pace and airliners often had wicker seats... the time of aircraft like this amazing Stinson A Tri-Motor.

Image

Speaking of Stinson airliners... how about a Model T trimotor?

Image

A popular commuter of that time; very rare nowadays:  Travel Air 10-D.

Image

I'll bet those seats are real comfy. ;D

Image

Seriously, though, scheduled trips were made in airplanes like this... here's another one, a Stinson Detroiter.

Another lovely office.

Wow, What it would have been like spotting in those days!!  Wish aircraft like that still flew on a regular basis!!  Had the AA Flagship DC-3 fly into PHL today and I could not get down there!! >:(
Trying to find out what time it leaves and sneek down for a little bit!!

Great shots, Sean!!

It flew into LGA a few weeks ago. It was a shame too, because I was in the city and probably could have stopped at the World's Fair Marina to get a pic of it.

Great shots, Sean. I love that Stinson T-Model.

Amazing planes. Just splendid to see how far the airliners have come...

Never forget the past though...  :)
