First a look to the east just before my flight:
Afterwards I followed Bob down to the other end of the field where Chapter 14 was having a little lunch get-together. Some unusual weather lately- a line of huge cumuli battling to get over the mountains about 10 miles to the east. Still very hot and dry between there and the coast, though.
They've got a nice little setup here... that's the hangar where we had lunch and I met and spoke with some more old-timers. We coaxed some Navy flying stories out of Bob that were very interesting.

How sad... this Champ was badly ground-looped, damaging both wing spars and twisting the fuselage. Not sure what will happen to her now. :'(
The outlook is brighter for the small collection housed in the chapter's other hangar... love this old Cessna. And that is a Heath Parasol hanging overhead...
And how about this Taylor? Not too many of these flying anymore.
There's even a fleet of excellent airplane pedal-cars for the little ones...
