airventure 07- part 12-seaplane base

Very glad I made it over to the lake this time; it's a nice shady side-trip and a chance to see some neat aircraft.

"Idyllic"... yeah, that's the word. ;D

An early homebuilt design: Volmer B-1.

Got some nice video of this CAM-Air on floats taking off...

This beauty is a Spanish production aircraft, not a kit- the Gannet you see here is a pure seaplane, but they make an amphib version, too. I think I need one, but it'll have to wait: they're pricey.

Seabees in the distance...

A closer look- focus is poor, but hey, it's a Seabee. ;D

Just enough breeze to keep this Cub's mooring line taut... a beautiful day.

B-E-A-yootiful shots Sean!! Thanks for posting 'em.

Those Seabee's, they always look as if the pilots stand up to fly them.  ;D ;D The Cub looks awsome aswell, hopefully with some good weather I'll be getting some stick time in an amphibeous cub in the next couple of weeks, can't wait - & your picture just made me even more impatient!  >:(

;D

Nice shots Sean, I have never got that far, how far do you have to walk from Aeroshell square? I will have to try to make-it next year. Mark

You must have had an  amazingly busy time to get to all the areas you did.......thanks for bringing us along with you........you've done a very commendable job showing off your camera angle skills !  Very nice  8-)

You have to catch a bus down at the south end of the show line; the Blue tram takes you there. Then it's about 5 mins. by bus (bring $2) to a little cove on Lake Winnebago... you walk down a trail and the seaplane base just seems to appear out of nowhere, like Brigadoon. ;D

I applied lessons learned the first time: bring a bicycle to save time getting from tent to show grounds, focus on one area per day for photos, watch the aerobatic displays one day, then after the warbirds on each following day, visit other areas while others are watching the aerobatic show. It was busy this time, but not very stressful.
I never did attend a workshop this time, but I did some other stuff I didn't do the first time, like taking that Breezy ride , visiting the seaplane base, chatting with aircraft owners and builders, and meeting up with friends.
