While you where sleeping pt3

Got a call Tuesday morning and was asked told that I have to drive to Munich to change an engine on an A320 that night. Here are a few pictures of what a 19 hour shift looks like :-?

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Fascinating. I'd never realized that the bypass section is actually part of the clamp assembly that holds the engine in place (on that model, anyway)... smart.

Looks like an honest days' work...  ;D

What is harder to realise and it gets me every time I have to think about it, is that the bypass is also the thrust reverse unit and the outer slides back to expose the cascades and blocker doors. As for an honest days work, I will have to decline to answer that one ;)

No worries eno, stores always send far to much. I had enough left over to change half the second engine :o

How many guys on the team ?......I'm sure it would take more than one person to do the entire job in short time....... :-?



8 guys on the day shift and 4 on the night shift. The night shift (me) did the cross dressing and pylon inspection and positioning the engine, does not sound like much, but it is. Then after sleeping a few hours we joined the day shift for the run to the finish. Normally if it was "at home", 5 guys per shift would work the engine, MUC was a quickie.
Another reason it took so long, was that this Air Bus has a V2500 engine and not a CFM56. The 56 can be changed by 3 people, the V2500 is a pig from start to finsh.

Ahhhh the stockings and suspender belt ment you needed a bit of help ....... and you needed more help because the V2500 buttons  up the back .... as opposed to the CMF56 dress buttoning up the front.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
