The Ride Of A Lifetime!

Postby Canuck. » Mon Jun 04, 2007 10:41 am

I finally found my lost pics of a ride in the CWHM Avro Lancaster!
sorry...the pics are not in order
[edit]You Guys Wanted a story so here i go...
(I'm not really good at stories, but I tried my best at this one)

Me and about 6 other people got a ride...The Ride of A Lifetime

The moment the pilots started the merlin engines, my heart started to pound, trying to escape out of my

chest...we taxied to Rwy07 and then stopped...the pilots did the pre-flight...the merlins started to

rumble...louder...and louder....and louder...the pilots yelled "hold on"...we were

rolling...faster...faster...faster...then the tail raised...and before I knew it...we were airborne!

we climbed to about 2500ft...then we flew around Essex County...I took some pics...then in the distance

i noticed something shiny gaining on us...it was a p-51 mustang (unfortunatly i did not think to take a pic

of it, but a photo plane did)...it formed on the right side of the tail...we flew around some more...then

the words i didnt wast to hear came out of the pilots mouth "Ladies and Gentleman please return to your

seats, we are preparing to land!"

I returned to my seat, and did up my seat belt... the merlins started to become quieter...the

rumbling was reduced...the flaps dropped...the gear lowered! The ground was getting closer...the

farmland stopped, and concrete appeared...with a thump and screeching tires...we were down...the tail

lowered...we slowed to taxiing speed, then taxied to our parking spot...the merlins silenced...then the

props stopped spinning...then we all clapped, exited the Lanc and then shook hands with the pilots!

Then in the distance we could see the P-51 rocketing towards the airport...the Chrome P-51 Mustang did

a low-high speed pass down the rwy then landed!

It was the most unforgetable ride i ever took!

Very cool.  I agree.  I think a story would be in order.  Did you sneak onto the airplane or something? Kidding of course.
