City pictures

Postby Roughrider » Sat May 12, 2007 7:11 pm

Had time the other day to take some picture of the city of Pittsburgh, I thought you guys would enjoy them. Please let me know what I could do to make them any better. Thanks Mark

They are working on Point State Park, so the Fountain is not working.

Interesting angle, In lower right corner is Carnegie Science Center with the Submarine parked outside, Then Heinz Field where the Steelers & Pitt Panthers play. Behind Heinz field is PNC Park where the Pirates play, the large building with the curved roof is the Convention center, and the tall building in the backround is the Cathedral Of Learning (University of Pittsburgh).

Wow!!  Pittsburgh looks great!!

I've only passed through the airport a couple times on my way to Toledo!!  Sad isn't it!!
I actually missed my connection to Toledo one time and U.S. Airways put me up at the
a Wyndham Hotel.  That was nice!!

 Great shots, Mark!!

Ah yes... Pittsburgh- where the Allegheny, Ohio and Monongahela rivers converge... very picturesque.  ;D
Driven through it and also spent a little time at the airport; that's about it. ;d

Great shots except for slightly hazy light and no interesting clouds.......but how often do you get perfect conditions for shots?

Really interesting pics, particularly like #2

On a second look, #1 might have been improved by moving your viewpoint left and down. This would have set the very interesting looking bridge nicely on the bottom left hand third of the frame, and the nice skyline on the top right third. It would also have cut out some of the bland sky.

However, this is the same criticism I have for 99.9% of my photos, it's always much easier to be a master photographer about 6 hours too late

I forgot to ask where these photos were taken from. They look like aerial shots to me in which case changing the viewpoint would be difficult.

The picture of the steelers stadium. Perfect. You got it at a simmilar angle to the one they use on TV for the shots of the outside.
Also the last shot, it highlights the city buildings very well and a pleasing angle so good job.
I like the rest aswell but as mentioned a little hazy, but thats difficult and almost impossible to overcome, so great job.

Thanks again for the comments.    Steve, I forgot the rule of thirds on the first shot, which is what you did on your edit, that makes it alot better.  Thanks, Mark
