The reality is, you've bought a brand name which is industry famous........how can you go wrong really ?....they have their name for a good reason.......personally, I've never owned a Canon, but have been aware of them since back in the film days of the AE-1 which was a very good camera and very popular........as for your question on the Digic II ......its the processing engine which converts the light image captured into digital information for saving to the memory card.......and as the name implies, its the second generation of that processing software......good luck on learning how to get the most out of your purchase, and we wait here for some results.......most comments you'll get, should be taken as constructive and not critical....enjoy !  8-)

Hey there, Rifleman...

Have you seen those monster-size, electric-powered, ducted-fan models of the F-15? I saw vids of them on YouTube or somesuch place. Very cool!! They launch from an angled catapult using a big bungee cord or some kind of elastic rope and land directly on grass. They have no landing gear. I guess it makes for too much weight. In a word-- awesome!!

Why do you call yourself Rifleman? You a shooter like me? Or do you remember the old Chuck Connors series from the 1960s?

When I was in high school a friend of mine dubbed me "Chuckie" 'cause he said I resembled the actor......when I look back now at some old shool photos, I can see why.........
