Abingdon 07: A new livery on the 108 and a Spit!

Postby Mictheslik » Sun May 06, 2007 3:18 pm

First of all the spit...Peter Teichman's PRXI :D

A south African guy next to me said it was the most graceful display he had ever seen....apparently he came over a couple of weeks ago for the airshow season and they dont have many spits in SA (though He did tell us of the 4 ship lightning formation he saw last year :))

And a few for the airshow debut of the new livery on the Bf108....looks a hell of a lot nicer than the sand with green splodges on ;)

I'd trade almost all the spits in the uk for that 4 ship lightning display. ;)

IAC-161/PV202 has recently been repainted out of it's Irish colours see here

As for South African Spits, they don't have a good record. The ex HAC Mk IX TE566 crashed fatally in 2002, and the SAAF Museum's Mk XVI crashed after an engine failure.

In a strange twist of fate, in IAC-161's previous incarnation as PV202, it crashed fatally (killing both occupants) at Goodwood in 2000. Ironically, one of those killed was the new owner, a South African, who was converting to the type.
