Another year... another try (at a bargain SLR)

Postby Ivan » Mon Apr 30, 2007 8:48 am

30 April is the nationwide boot sale day in Holland

As some of you know, last year i bought a Praktika SLR... which in the end was declared dead as the shutter return spring tension was completely gone.

So i tried again this year.... this time it's a Zenit 122 built in 1991

This case isn't the greatest in ergonomics but you can remove the whole top flap. And being an SLR, the mirror prevents the shutter getting burn holes so you can do whitout the top flap.

Unpacked... price paid: 5 euros

Found a big zoom lens too... for 1,50 Euros. It's the standard size... 135mm

Image
Whole kit on the table... including the Helios from last year

Image
Same name, different characters... the M6 is about 1/4 cm shorter compared to the old one

Camera specs
Build in 1991, still says 'Made in USSR' on the bottom though
Weight: little over 0,8kg with the standard lens. Feels like being over 1kg with the 135mm on, but could be the messed up balance too.
Speeds: 30, 60, 125, 250, 500 and manual
Lightmeter: uncoupled TTL with LEDs
Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and [url=http://an24.uw.hu/]An-24RV[/ur

That really looks nice, but man, going back to analogue film? I hope you have a big wallet...  :'(  ;)

Do you develop them yourself? Some people do say analogue is still better, but surely digital will get there too..

Well, enjoy your new toy!
