Dolphin's at play

Postby Romulus111VADT » Sat Apr 14, 2007 8:32 am

My son sent these to me- He said they were taken during his ships refueling/resupplying. Seems dolphins like to play in the wakes of ships.

Sorry about the compression. Especially the last one, I resized it just like the first two and it kept being rejected until I got it to 400. Seems the forum definition of 1024 is different than my photo programs.

All were rejected as to big at-
800 X 600
600 X 400
finally made it happy at 512 X 341 except the last, that went clear to 400 X 267 before the forum was happy.

Neat, except it looks like there off the bow, I could be wrong though.

Very nice photos. I believe dolphins do indeed play in the bow wave in front of ships rather than the wake. It's known as 'bow riding'.

You shouldn't need to change the physical size of images to reduce the file size. They would look better at the forum limit of 800 pixel width. (Not sure what 1024 has to do with this. ?) I don't know which photo programs you use but you need one with an option to vary the compression while saving. IrfanView will do it if you have nothing suitable.
