USS John C. Stennis

Lightning explodes over the flight deck of the Nimitz class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis as it sails through the Persian Gulf on March 28th 2007. The carrier was taking part in massive military exercises in the gulf.

No, he's stationed on the USS Vella Gulf CG-72. That picture from the USS John C. Stennis was taken by Mc2 Heidi Giacalone. The Stennis's home port is San Diego, I think. His home port is Norfolk, Virginia. His ship is in the same area as the Stennis and he took this picture-

Cool shots from the Vella Gulf... are the numbers painted on those loads (in pic #3) the weights of the loads?

On the numbers, I have no idea? Could be weights, or could be manifest numbers? It would make sense if they were weights, I know they need t balance the load on ships. So I guess that would be a reasonable assumption.

Yes it does!  ;D

Some of the worst weather I've ever been has been at sea....can you say white water over the bow of a carrier?  ;D  Also some of the most beautiful....the nights, OMG...the night sky in the middle of the Pacific on a calm night.  More stars than you have ever seen...

And yes those are the weights of the pallets on those UNREP shots....and Stennis is homeported in Bremerton, WA.  ;)
