Forklifts are fun...
I'll never forget the time I had to use a lift to put a few non-palletized things in a storage loft at a shop I used to work at:
Everyone was very busy, so I used some heavy string to rig it so I could run the lift while I was standing on the forks... the production manager was not amused... I thought it was pretty clever, myself.  
That was almost as good as the time I was working in the shop barefoot... ah, to be 30 again... !

Crap from China! Yeah! A while ago 7 containers ( 40 feet long) were delivered to my compagny... They had to be emptied by hand, piece by piece... the guys in the warehouse weren't amused! ( I'm doing deskwork)... However, they've teached me to handle electric forklifts and I really enjoy buzzing around in them, thoug I still can't keep up with their speed and accuracy...

HA! I laugh at your measly 7 containers...we had a total of 69 in the end, only about 10,000 square feet of warehouse space was being used....

Fortunately I didn't have to spend a lot of time unloading as I was palletizing and sending a LOT of the stuff right back out of the door. For example in less than a month we sent 3 different layout setups to about half the lowes stores within the country. This translates to 40-50 stores a day and when you're talking about 4 foot by 8 foot skids in an already cramped warehouse, it was a very frustrating and interesting time. These days we're basically doing store resets and new stores, with the possibility of sending stuff to canada stores in the near future.

I had never had the opportunity to drive an electric lift until we had been at this warehouse for awhile and they pulled our propane one. Never did care for electric, battery was always dead when I needed it most. Besides, I'd much rather zip around on the lawn mower they got me last year...http://www.ferrisindustries.com/pages/m ... duct_id=20 very very fun, albeit annoying for my allergies...

Well, we have like 4 people working in the warehouse... and if the containers are filled up to the bursting point with tiny rolls of fencingmaterial, that has to be unloaded by hand, and concidering these 7 containers came in in just 3 days, you might understand there were some grumpy people around...  :)

lol, I can completely understand the cranky people, when they started we averaged 4-5 people unloading and 7-8 trucks per day. I was fortunate enough to not have to help unload too many of them because I was trying to ship a lot of the stuff back out as soon as I could get the paperwork to do so.

nowadays I'm pretty lucky in that I usually only ship 2-3 stores worth of displays every couple of days, though orders have been picking up recently as we're preparing to branch out into canada.

speaking of work..I suppose I better get going before I end up getting there late! :-O
