Ornithology

Ok....so wildlife pics don't go down a storm here, however I'm pleased with these so you all get them inflicted on you anyway...

A recent addition to our collection of regular visitors......they've finally found the Nyjer seed.....a Goldfinch

This guy was staring him down from the other side of the feeder, a distant relative Greenfinch

The Goldfinch are so much more relaxed, they just sit there munching away.

Hi Mic,

these are from our Fuji s5600.....fortunately the feeder is about 2 metres from the window of our lounge so we can get pretty close in the first place  ;)

That's neat! Nice and big! Wildlife is very hard to catch on camera... the way you want it at least...

thanks Kris.

It's taken a lot of patience and practice to get these two, shot initially in RAW, and then tweaked a little in PS. The autofocus on the Fuji s5600 is a little imprecise, and only wants to focus on the feeder (the biggest thing), so it's a little hit and miss as to whether or not the birds eye is in focus, still every now and then you get a couple that come out just so  :)

well done mate.. Birds are especially tough to photograph as they dont like sticking in one place for very long.

Excellent pics... funny thing, though: each of those birds looks like he's been rudely interrupted... "WHAT!?"
