One of my favourite "Air Race" aircraft, the Yak 52 (Tricycle)....

...!
They are as rare as Hen's teeth in this part of the country even though I only live a few miles from the main YAK importer, Richard Goode at Ameley, Herefordshire.
They are always a popular sight at our local Club's Air Races, (when they turn up), starting up with a clatter and a cloud of smoke, and developing onto the sound that only a beautiful radial engine can make....

Just look how clean* and compact that radial engine assembly is, compared to a Lycoming, etc, Flat 4/6 installation is, in front of the firewall...!!
