A bit spotty at KEWR...

Postby beaky » Sun Mar 18, 2007 5:37 pm

Had to do a quick errand today, so I visited "my spot" briefly to see who was coming in on 22L... got a couple of halfway-decent snaps.

The wind is squirrely today- everyone started taking the circle-to-land option for 29... so I went looking for another spot. No proper place to pull over, but I caught this ERJ at a red light:

Back home, I decided to take a few more from the living room, because they were using 22 (and 29) again... as soon as  I powered up the camera  I caught this German Airbus going around... not sure if it was the wind, or the arriving traffic on 29, or what... but it was the first time I've ever seen a go-around here. He aborted at about 500 feet...  :o

Continental arriving on the distant approach end of 29...

Busy Sunday...!

That's a good plan... unfortunately, he spotting around KEWR is pretty "ghetto commando" style... although that spot on Delancey Street doesn't raise many eyebrows, apparently.

If you have a really long lens and a tripod, the roof of my building is very good.  ;D

Heck of a lot better than anything I could ever catch at LaGuardia  :o :'(

Mainly just 737s (different variations) there.... Sometimes a good ole MD-88 or something... but mostly just 737s .... I usually only see 1 or 2 ( 3 at most) 757-200s  :'(

Nice shots, and you don't even have to leave home! ::)  What are the Bridges in the back round?

Seven hours of flying across the pond and then a go-around at your destination airport. Bummer...

Nice snaps.

The first, seen in the A340 shot, is where the NJ Turnpike extension off Rt 78 goes over the Hackensack River towards the Holland Tunnel... not sure if it has a name.

And the second is, of course, the Verrazno Narrows Bridge, which connects Staten Island to Brooklyn.

Lucky.. when i go spotting at KLGA i have to at Plane View park.. which is across the Grand Central from the runway... not to mention they only land on runway 4 once in a while.....

Best spot I know of for KLGA is over in the Home Depot parking lot by College Point.

LGA has it's own park for spotting. I want to make it over there one day. I just need to build up the courage to drive through mid-town. :P
