Lovely sight, shame about the photos!

Postby F3Hadlow » Sat Mar 03, 2007 6:50 pm

Well, some of my attempts from tonight. It wasn't too bad but once the moon went red my lack of a shutter release cable ruined any hope of a decent pic. I have no doubt we'll see much better ones on here soon! At least I got to see a wonderful sight.

On all but the second shot, I was using my 400 along with a 1.5x and a 2x converter, which made it approximately 1200mm. It does lower the quality a bit, but it brings it a lot closer.

Splendid detail... To bad there are none on the red moon...but tell me, how did the shutter release cable mess up things... couldn't you just use the delayed shooting option, as I did?

Yes, I tried that but the instant I pressed the shutter button the movement instantly ruined an image at that slow speed. I DO have pics of it, but I'm not in the habit of putting the crap I take on the internet lol! ;) Also, at 1200mm blur shows up a lot more.

Hmm... I see... my camera has the option to let it wait 10 sec. before taking a shot, after you've hit the button... so the tripod should be stable by then...

Awesome shots!!

I had my old Canon set up with the 800mm lens but, the Mother Nature decided to send some clouds our way!! :(

Well I'm still set up and if tomorrow night is clear i'll get some moon shots then.  Gee, think we'll have another eclipse tomorrow night!! ::)
