The door into summer...

Postby beaky » Sat Feb 24, 2007 7:32 pm

Thought all you poor saps in the higher latitudes might appreciate these... just some random snaps from today's outing in the Tampa area.

I drove down to Picnic Island State Park, then wandered around looking for a good place to try to spot some arrivals into MacDill.
It was about 80F today... heehee... ;D

First, this trip's rental car: a brand-new Pontiac G6. It has some pep, but drives like a pig, sort of. I prefer the new Impalas.
Crappy sound system, too. but I'm not paying for it, so...

Ah yes... swaying palms, a gentle breeze... and the sun was nice. Pretty much got these old bones thawed out, now...

Image

Several flights of terns (?), zooming back and forth very low and very fast...

Image

Wandered on a trail for a bit and spied some raccoon tracks...

Image

A different sort of beast: an old Chevy, I believe... looks very restorable. ;D

Image

Well, I sat in a park just north of the base for quite some time, and nothing came in...  :'(
But I got a pretty good shot of a heron. :)

Hope that warmed you up a bit... and get ready, because tomorrow I'm going here!!!

I think that old Chevy is around a '58 vintage from what I remember...?  :-/

Yeah, it was unusual, I guess... the week started out pretty chilly; in the 40s at night, and mid-60s in the daytime. Been getting gradually warmer all week.

Hope you are enjoying yourself, I just went out to get fire wood and couldn't get back to the house, ice on everything. When you come back north bring some warm weather with you. ;D
