Back up north! (with a dodgy memory card)

Postby Mictheslik » Mon Feb 12, 2007 2:50 pm

Went to Manchester again last weekend and got a few hours at the airport with my 400D and the new 300mm lens.

Noteable arrivals wewre that of a brand new Turkish Airlines A320 and a beautiful Bangladesh Airlines DC10

At the ramp was an An124, that was supposed to have left early in the morning but had had an engine failure....unfortunately it didnt leave whilst I was there.

So thats the good bit.......the bad bit....on the last picture I took the memory card decided to corrupt....meaning I lost most of my pictures (I managed to recover a few which you see here, some had large grey areas at the bottom which have had to be cropped) It basically doesnt want to come up on the computer any more and I cant even reformat the card....so its going back to the shop on saturday.

So anyway....these are a few of the photos I did manage to rescue :)

My new desktop :D......(I like 747s...you don't get any in Bristol ;))

Please leave comments...as I need to improve my aircraft photography for the airshow season ;)

that dragonair one is stunning mate. :o
And I know your pain with the memory card, mine did exactly the same thing on my trip to old warden. I was lucky to get shots back from it.

There was a lovely Air China 74F that did the same thing...but alas none of those photos could be recovered. This was all due to the very good weather....the runway was slightly moist causing the spray yet it was nice and sunny :D

Craig...When it happened to your card did you manage to reformat the card and are still using it now or did you have to get it replaced?

I had to buy a new card, I was able to format it, but I constantly had problems with pictures being greyed out, some had like 4 small boxes of the same pic in one.
Look on ebay or if its still in warrenty take it back.

I think it is just the case of a faulty card. This was the first time I had taken more than 50 pics on it.

Its only a month old so Ill take it back to the camera shop and try and get it replaced

The condensation shot is a nice catch. 8-) Sorry to hear of your technical gremlins!

However, when I read the title I thought you'd actually been in the 'real' north, not the southerners north! :D ;)

Drool-worthy 747 shots there... too bad about the "ones that got away".

Nice Photos, Mic. I am very interested in how you like that lens, I am considering the same one only with the Image Stabilizer, but I don't know if the extra $300 is worth it. Please send more photos, if there are like that, I am definately getting that lens.
