How is that sense, why do you feel the need to judge everything ... do you think people actually care or something?

Okay, im not JUDGING, im just saying 2 things:

A) I dont really think underage drinking is smart, primarily because it isn't legal.  So Im glad that Mobius hasnt gotten wasted before becoming legal.

B) Getting 'wasted' just isn't safe!  Its not that I think theres anything WRONG with people that do, I am just concerned for their safety!  Ive known people that have DIED from drinking (underage) and my best friend of 13 years nearly died once from underage drinking.  I dont think any less of her for doing so (well maybe a little), but my biggest 'criticism' is that I am seriously worried for her safety!  To me, the biggest problem with underage drinking is self control.  Too many underage drinkers drink WAY too much alcohol for their size, end up getting 'wasted', passing out or blacking out and doing stupid things, or getting seriously ill (and by seriously ill I mean turning up DEAD).  Also it seems like no underage drinkers know what they are doing to themselves.  They seem to think its 'cool' to get drunk and that there is no danger, when in reality the damage they cause by drinking will come back to haunt them.

I personally plan on not drinking until Im 21, and even then I hope that I can control myself well enough to take the omag approach and drink in moderation, primarily to taste and enjoy rather than get drunk and sick

I dont know why you think I have to criticize everything, and besides, why should it matter?  Everyone has a right to their opinions

It isn't legal to drink underage, at least here in the UK it isn't, the only thing the 18 year old thing refers to is buying the alcohol.

But whatever, no point in argueing with you...think what you want.

Oh, and I really dont think anyone, especially myself, wants or needs you watching out for our safety...just because you have stupid friends doesnt mean everyone is like that.

He has just as much right to express his opinion as you do.  The University of Wisconsin-Madison (where I go to school) was rated the #1 party school last year (#4 this year), and that is pretty much because of all the binge-drinking going on.  If you enjoy walking around a city where probably 95% of the people ages 16-26 are walking around the streets until 4-5 in the morning, yelling, vomiting, and breaking anything breakable because they're so totally drunk they don't even know who they are, or where they live, then this is the place for you.  I absolutely hate it, it hurts the reputation of the school (in the eyes of potential employers), it destroys a city and school that people have worked so hard to bueatify, and it teaches young people that this is the 'cool' way to act.  I have nothing against having a couple of drinks with your friends, but doing a "power-hour" or keeping track of how many drinks you've had with tally marks on your arm is stupid.  It's scary to think that these people who put alcohol and partying first and foremost in their lives, will be the people who will be leaders in politics, buisiness, and all other parts of society.

I would say it was less of a opinion and more like a subtle jab. He's basically saying that people who drink have no sense.

Mobius, it is fun. Thats why people do it, i know im making out like im some sort of alcoholic wreck, im not. But going out to parties is fine. People enjoy it, and at the end of the day thats all life is about. 100 years time odds are all of us will be in a hole in the ground, so lets just have fun while we can!

Just because you don't enjoy something doesnt make it wrong or stupid.

I stopped drinking at 21. I started to drink for real at 18 and I was in the service at the time. So other than my 3 year old drunken stupor. I only drank for 3 years and haven't drank since (at least not booze that is). Funny part is, I never did develop a taste for beer after my 3 year old drunk.... ;)

Yeah, great, go have fun, I don't really care, but when I have to walk past multiple piles of vomit on the sidewalk, empty beer cans/bottles/boxes all around, random crap (cones, barricades, signs) that's been stolen and just dumped along the sidewalk, I get a little peeved.  How would you like it if I really enjoyed, say, playing paintball, but all the targets I have don't move, so I decided to just shoot random people on the sidewalk with my paintball gun becuase the actually run and it's a challenge?  I think it's fun, but I'm pretty sure they don't, so that's why I don't do it, but people don't seem to get that with alcohol.  "Oh, they're just having fun...", yeah, bull, I don't care, their "fun" is at my expense, so your d**n right I'll be p'd off at it.

Getting drunk isn't big and it isn't clever but a lot of people go through that stage.
I did. Now I drink in moderation (in fact sometimes months can go between bevvies). That said my best friend of 23 years is coming over at Xmas and I'm sure we'll put away enough between us to float the USS Enterprise ;D ;D ;D The odd thing is we won't get really drunk, we won't puke and we probably won't set fire to any police cars unless they're really asking for it! Mainly by having Police written down the side.......... ;D

That really is quite petit. I mean I live within a mile of one of the biggest club spots in the UK, and hardly ever see puke or beer cans. And out off place signs or cones?? Who cares????

I can't believe this is what your objection to drinking is based upon. I mean, i can kind of understand Jake saying its to do with health etc... but common...if what your saying above is a issue in your life I envy you!

I'm 14 and haven't even felt slightly tipsy.

Having said that, I don't like 'fizzy drinks' (i.e. Coca-cola, most alcohols etc) so I don't touch alcohol much... ::)

well thats where he spirits come in....  ;D vodka with some apple juice is one seriously lovely drink!

Drinkng may not be big or clever, but my god is it some fun, and all the times ive got completely plastered for whatever reason, the hangover has been completely worth it. The on thing that alcaholdoes help with is if youre going after a girl and they are "playing ard to get" or in otherwords dont particularly like you, its a lot easier at a party when everyone has a lot in them, and ive had 2 relationships start that way, one of them was probs the best thing that happened to me the other wasnt as sucessful.....

i like voddy and apple juice :D

I never get drunk... ;D

I can't say I have a problem with it as such. People can make their own choice as long as they realise that they will be responsible for the consequences (if there are any). In certain jobs it is almost part of the culture, particularly when it comes to letting off steam, celebrating, and dealing with formal occasions! ;D Mark will certainly know what I mean...

reading this thread, and a few underage drinkers saying ive never touched a drop etc.. or got totaly $hitfaced. once you turn the legal age you will start drinking more than likely.

no offense flymo, but your as bad saying that the guy who drinks loads is the only one having any fun. I dont touch a drop of the stuff and have enough fun when i'm out. In my opinion if you need to get p*ssed out of your head to have fun, then your a very boring person normally.

im not saying i hvae to get pissed to hvae fun, just osmetimes a night out in town just aint the same without it....

Are you joking? Not everyone in this world drinks, nor is there any obligation to do so, it's entirely up to someones individuals choice whether they want to or not. You cannot victimise someone for whatever they choose to do in a matter that is totally voluntary whether you agree or not. If they want to drink they can, if they don't then they don't have too and no-one can or should criticise them for that.

Oh, and by the way I drink quite regularly just not too extreme, so I'm not taking a side here.
