Hi all,

was round at my dads earlier on tonight and he had mentioned that he had found something that was given to him on the day he was discharged from R.A.F Scampton on medical grounds (the photo has been hidden for 19 years).

The Story behind this photo is my mum and dad very very friendly with the base commander and he had hinted at a flight on an aircraft which was going to be delivered to an museum on the 16th of August 1977 from Boscombe down.

My dad arrived there at 09:00 on this day and reported straight to the C.O where he was told to go and get prepared for the flight in the TG511 the Handley Page Hastings which now resides at Cosford (by this time my dad was wondering how he would be getting back to scampton).

After a short while a message was passed around that he would be flying in a bomber back to scampton as they were due at an airshow later on in the day.
Around 2pm he climbed into this particular aircraft and was strapped into one of the seats,

Excellent. Somehow, these pictures with "provenance" are so much better than high-quality pix of restorations.

Oh yes... I felt blessed to be less than half a wingspan away for the startup and shutdown of the CAF Lanc at this years' MAAM WWII airshow... a fantastic and very important aircraft!
