Sussex in Autumn

Postby Hagar » Fri Nov 03, 2006 4:32 am

I thought it was time to pay a visit to Arundel before all the leaves disappear in a gale. Here's a few examples from the many photos I took to give you an idea of the beauty of my home county of Sussex at this time of year.

Arundel Castle basking in the autumn sunshine. Not a cloud in the sky.

A view across the river Arun after which Arundel is named.

Both sides of the beautiful Arundel Cathedral. I might go inside to have a look round on my next visit.

There's no denying that Autumn is a little late this year. The leaves haven't turned that lovely golden colour yet but it's still so beautiful. Makes you feel good to be alive.

I had to compress some of these far more than I would have liked to comply with the forum limits. I know - it's the same for everyone but I've always wanted to say that. :D

Great shots doug!

Parents + 2 of my friends visited that castle last summer... I stayed back at the camp and had a lovely beautifull day alone with the Dog.. There's supposed to be a village near Arundel called Amberly which should also be very nice

Sussex seems such a nice area... to bad there's a whole Channel between it and my place...  ;D

Real fairy-tale stuff, there... gorgeous.
Too bad it looks like you'll get robbed this year, as far as fall foliage colors go...happens here sometimes; just as they turn it either snows or they all fall off at once.

All stunning shots Doug, picture postcard quality. I particularly like the cathedral towering over the town.

Thanks for the kind comments. Glad you like 'em. I was very pleased with how these turned out.

There's supposed to be a village near Arundel called Amberly which should also be very nice

Amberley is a few miles up the road. I passed through there yesterday on the way back from my little trip to Parham Park. Didn't stop as the museum is shut for the winter & I've posted photos from there in the past. (They filmed a lot of the sequences from the Bond film "A View to a Kill " there.) http://www.amberleymuseum.co.uk/

Sussex seems such a nice area... to bad there's a whole Channel between it and my place...

You could fly or bring your car on the ferry. I also heard they built a very handy tunnel. :P
