PAPD chopper near KEWR

Postby beaky » Mon Oct 30, 2006 11:52 am

Just this morning, heard a big eggbeater outside my window... this gives an idea of how close it was, although here it's circled away.

Image

It's a Port Authority of NY/NJ chooper; no idea what type.
Not sure what they were up to; it circled several times. The gear being down, I guess they were waiting for landing clearance at nearby KEWR.I got a phone call before I could see where they went.

     A cool banking shot; that building is farther away than it appears.

Get away from my window... I didn' do nuthin' !! ;D Glad to see the camera was pointed away... ;D

Nice catch. I'm usually far too slow at this sort of thing. ::) ;)

It's a Sikorsky S-76C. I had no idea either but a quick google on the reg brings instant results. 8) ;) http://myaviation.net/?pid=00641466

I rarely see helicopters that high. I'm sure MrJake will agree that round these parts they pilots must get dizzy if they go over 500 feet. ;D

We don't get many choopers 'round 'ere, just them wurlyburds ;D

Sorry Sean, cheap shot...... ::)

I'm forever jumping up from my chair to see what's chugging past the office window. With Shawbury down the road it all gets a bit Apocalypse Now on occasion.

2 and 4 are nice, I completely failed to get a decent pic of the air ambulance right above me at Wellesbourne when we went to see the Vulcan, you did much better.

He was way lower than that... maybe 100 feet above my building's roof, which is about 50 feet. The buiding seen in #3 is something like 30 stories, but the chopper was much closer, so it only appears to be above it.

Too-shay, mon-sewer... ;D

I posted that in haste; no proofreading and no reg. check.
I know I can count on you nitpickers to straighten things out... ;) ;D

Good thing for them, too... if they landed on this roof, they'd be in the basement before they could get the doors open. ;D
