Objective:Queens, part 2

Postby beaky » Sun Oct 29, 2006 5:32 pm

Almost forgot I had more snaps from my little road trip last week...

Eventually made it back to the office to drop off the kiosk computer, then fought my way to the Lincoln Tunnel just as rush hour began. At one of the last lights before the tunnel, I had to back up a bit to let this bus squeeze through... those are my headlights reflected on it. Whifff....

One nice thing about being stuck in traffic is being able to catch stuff like this.

Almost in the tunnel; this wouldn't have been so bad if it werent' for the (unseen) fender-bender up ahead... created utter havoc with the flow of traffic.

On the Jersey side, not too bad yet... looked to my left at a traffic light on Rt. 1&9 and discovered a fantastic photo... a different take on the garbage truck "mascot"... LOL!!

Sigh... will they ever learn? ::)

Getting close to home... somewhere in here there's a KEWR departure climbing in  a strong headwind.

Home at last!! I hate driving into NYC  on a weekday...

Thanks for taking us along. I suppose it's easy enough when you're used to it but I can do without the hassle, especially at my age. :P :D

I feel incredibly sorry for the poor soul that has to drive an H2 through Newark (last pic) ::)

Yes, I also pity the mentally challenged. ;D

There's another knucklehead around here who drives a full-sized Hummer... dumb, dumber, Hummer.
;D

Great for desert racing, though... ;D

I'll never get used to it, except for planning to be delayed. ;d

It's even more "fun" in Manhattan now that they've designated many east-west streets as "through only"  during rush hour (with a cop seemingly on every corner, eager to write you a big fat ticket)... I missed my intended turn off 2nd Avenue on the way back to the office and had to go all the way to 6th Avenue, then back to 5th, to get onto the street where I was to hand off the computer. Took about 40 minutes from error to arrival... ::)
Fortunately, most days Im packed in the subway with all the other hapless sardines-  barbaric, but better than driving at rush hour.
