I still can't see why it's worth such ridiculous amounts of money...

Well if you just happen to be a commercial diver then it's worth the money. However if your a kid then you have no need at all for something like that.

That said, it's his money. If he wants to blow it on stuff like that then so be it.

Not really. With photography good quality expensive equipment will give far better results than the cheap stuff. With that watch you could pay a less than a 10th of the price and you wouldn't know the difference.

As always you're paying for the name.

Well if you just happen to be a commercial diver then it's worth the money.

It would be interesting to know which watches the pro divers actually use themselves. I suspect this is more of a fashion accessory or piece of jewellery than a serious piece of diving equipment. I wouldn't pay that sort of money for any watch but whatever floats your boat. ;)

With a watch I can happily say 1/20th of the price. :) Or free...

Depends how deep you go into it, to a novice photographer any camera will achieve the same results...same difference with someone that knows nothing about watches...

On the other hand to experienced photographers a proper camera is a must have...same difference for a watch enthusiast, or just a fashionable guy ;)

From what I know they do usually have very expensive watches which they then treat like cheap watches. I've heard of games of watch conkers to find out who's is toughest. Needless to say your average commercial diver is none too bright. Really the need for a watch like that doesn't exist any more as pro divers use little wrist computers to tell them everything they need.

I can't deny there is some logic to that.
