WANWW part 4: Last!

Postby Jakemaster » Sat Sep 16, 2006 9:37 pm

This is it! Last part, a bunch of randoms

First is a nose outside the museum, name the plane it belongs to! (notice the continental tail...)

Heres that old fuel truck mentioned earlier

Thats the terminal.  Originally built in 1940 and in 1946 an extra level was added.  Its been that way since then and is undergoing rennovation.  Half of the interior is rennovated and is now a museum, and the rest will be rennovated soon, the museum only needs 300,000 dollars.  Lots of history and a beautiful building
Image
Hehe, I noticed the shineyness of the prop cone and took a pic.  Thats me at the camera, my dad in the red shirt behind me, and the terminal at the top
Image
And one last pic of one of the 2 Continental 737s that were getting maintenence next door.  I guess Continental keeps a hanger here to do maintenence when their hanger at IAH is full (IAH is Continental's home).  This one was pushed out of the hanger and out of the way so the other could be put into the hanger

Comments welcome!

I hope you enjoyed this series of pics

That's a  cargo-version DC-6 nose... how much do they want for it?

Nice series Jake. That looks like an interesting place. The art-deco terminal building reminds me of Shoreham. Not the same design but about the the same vintage.

Ya, I believe its the oldest terminal in the US and one of the only ones still standing.  When it opened it was the largest terminal in the US.

Rotty, Im pretty sure your right.  I know its a douglas, but Im not 100% sure of which one

Trust me- only the cargo version of the 6 had that big door just aft of the flight deck. The 4 wasn't long enough...

[EDIT] But it might be a 7; I forgot about the 7.
