Elvington - Helicopters

This is neat.  All three machines are flying from left to right, but the Lynx is doing it backwards.

Party piece.  The Lynx hovers, then flips onto its back, then comes straight down.  The whole thing takes about 2 seconds.

Did you know the backwards flying by the Lynx is the toughest manuver for the whole show for the lynx pilots? The aircraft has to fly in a dead straight line backwards with no rear facing mirror, the pilots have to rely on the Gazelle pilots to keep them informed of a clear rear path while the Lynx pilot has to use place marks to keep it flying straight, while also making sure he's avoiding the Gazelles.

I believe the Gazelle pilots also have to work hard, flying nice and straight in the disturbed wake of the Lynx.  The commentator at Elvington (who never shut up!) said the Gazelles only have a few years left on them, they'll soon be replaced but nobody yet knows what with!
