London Science Museum pt 2, Gnome rotary engine

A Gnome rotary engine.  I didn't pay much attention to this until I started designing planes in FS9, then I wanted to go back and take a closer look!

The bit at the back which nobody ever sees, that funnel shaped bit at the rear is the air intake.

The originals are available to anyone who wants them.  They're all .jpg files, resolution 3456 x 2304, and they take up about 2.4MB each.  Squeezing them down to 100kb for SimV really hurt!

Those old "monosoupappe" (single-valve) rotaries are tough little suckers- there are quite a few original Gnomes still flying. Nothing like the sound of one of those... ;D
