SC Trip 1 = Charleston AFB/Intl

Postby Jakemaster » Fri Jul 28, 2006 9:18 pm

Well here it comes, the pics from my trip.  Ive got lots of pictures from the 2 airports I went to to start it off with.  First is Charleston AFB/Intl, cause I took pictures there before I took them at Houston/Bush Intercontinental.  SO Ill have this post and the next will be some continental birds from KIAH, followed by Fort Sumter, the USS Yorktown, Fort Moultrie, and some miscellaneous odds and ends.  There will be a special post for Theis, so Theis, get ready with a towel....

Charleston is the home of the C-17 Globemaster, here are some C-17s with a C-5 taxiing past (sorry bout the horrible quality, they were REALLY far away and the camera isnt that great)

More C-17s

Beech 1900D, just sitting on the ramp by the rental car parking lot

Airporne Express Fokker (?)
Image
DHL Fokker (?) in the EXACT same spot as the one above, only 6 days later (lol)
Image
2 Delta CRJs, first time Ive seen it with Comair on the tail
Image
Prolly my best of the day, US Airways Express CRJ.  I was going to get this one head on, but my battery died literally when I pressed the button.  So I went and bought a 6 dollar pack of 4 batteries (I threw away my money just for you guys) and came back and got this one

Northwest CRJ taxiing in

Saw this C-17 land and taxi to the ramp where all the other C-17s are

STUPID FUEL TRUCK!  US Airways Beech 1900D in the old colors

And the nose of the ERJ 145 that took me home (had the squeekiest brakes in the history of brakes and the flight was very bumpy, but heck, I loved every minute of it)
Image

Next is some from KIAH, so keep watching!

No brakes are noisier than those of the B17, but I'll take your word for it.  ;D
Cool pics.

The CRJ's look great!  :)

The small window above the main windows of the DHL and Airborne express birds, make me identify them as Boeing 717's... not Fokker's

It seems there are quite a few military bases that share with civilian aircraft. Are there a lot of these in the US?

I imagine they may even be older than that, and be DC-9/MD-8Xs...

USAF don't have a shortage of C-17s do they! ;D

Thanks for all the comments guys.  With the DHL and Airborne Express I was thinking DC-9, but then I thought it was a Fokker 70 for some reason

And rotty, the brakes were so loud that the entire plane vibrated
