A little guessing game- REVEALED!!!

Postby beaky » Mon Jul 03, 2006 4:11 pm

[Drumroll begins...]

Monty Hall: "Now, Mrs. Hakleschmackle, you're sure you want what's inside the box, and not what's behind Curtain #2?

[Drumroll builds, then subsides, then continues...]

Monty: "...I'll tell you what... you give up the box, and I'll give you... twenty... forty... sixty dollars in cash!"[counts off 20-dollar bills into her hand]

[Mrs. H nearly faints with indecision... consults her husband, who has to be prodded awake...]

Mrs. H: "No, Monty, I want the box!!"

Monty: "Oookay; Jay, tell her what she's won!!!"

Jay the Announcer: "It's ...

A new plotter!!!

[Dingdingdingdingding...]

[Oohs and ahhs from audience]

Image

Jay: "...That's right, it's a Jeppeson PN-1 navigation plotter... measures distance and course on sectionals, world charts, and terminal charts... perfect replacement for the broken one in your flight bag! It retails for $10.91"

Mrs. H: "Oooh; I've been needin' one of them!!" (claps hands in glee)

Mr. H: "Cripes! You turned down sixty bucks for that?!"

Monty: "Now hold on, hold on... There's one more item inside the box... Jay?"

Jay: "Why, it's...

It's an iPilot.com Fabric Medium Pilot Bag, with 2 dividers and shoulder strap!!!!"

[audience gasps]

Image

Jay: "You'll be the envy of all who see you on the ramp with this stylish, roomy, durable flight bag, with plenty of pockets and pouches for all of your flight accesories! From iPilot.com, it retails for $39.99!!
"With shipping, this entire package is worth $58.53!!"

[Mr. H. shrugs, Mrs. H kisses Monty, audience applauds as if lives depended on it]

I know, I know... much ado about nothing. But I'm pretty excited: you see, for about 13 years now, I've been carrying all my stuff around in this, my "Jepp bag" that came with my Jeppeson training package when I first started out.
Note: it has never been washed. ;D
My headset, kneeboard, PTT switch, and Foggles barely fit in there; add a camera and a bottle of water, and you can't even close it.
This new bag isn't the best in the world I'm sure, but it's a pretty good deal, and I imagine I'll be using it for a long time.

That would come in handy for my camera & the rest of the gear I have to carry around nowadays. You don't need a new one. The old battered flight bag looks much more professional if you know what I mean. :P :D

I do know what you mean; I only needed a new one because the "Jepp bag" is just too darn small. I'm planning on getting another headset (for my victims... er, I mean pax), a nav/com transceiver, and a portable GPS.. the new one will accomodate all, with room left over for a water and a sandwich, ;D And don't worry; it'll get beat-up in no time... since I started flying again, I've been averaging 10 hrs/month... my previous annual average was 20 hrs. When this one falls apart, I'll probably splurge on a leather one.
I'll keep the old one, though, for whatever... or maybe just as a souvenir.
Might even wash it... ;D

Excellent couple of threads, thanks rottydaddy, Fozzer and the rest for giving me a good laugh!

Congrats on your purchases. I might buy a bag like that too. I'll fill it up with beer and biscuits and carry it with me to the computer.  :)
